ALMAJD TENNIS CLUB

ABOUT US

Al Majd Tennis Club was founded in 1996. And the court was built in the land of Al Majd Saudi Asphalts , spearheaded by its company camp manager. He is now residing permanently in the Philippines . The group are still headed and under the guidance by the original and pioneer members Serge Ventucillo, Rodan Roque, Engr. Nick Lacuesta, Arnold Rigor, Lakay Olpindo, Tim San Gabriel, Medz Mabang, Kerwin Valenzuela, Adi Olegario and Henry Sarmiento who is now the chairman of the tennis club.

On the early times, the group uses different names like Green seekers, HHA & Friends and Millennium whenever there is a tournament outside the compound.

The group became bigger when a new set of players entered and joined the club whom we consider as the second batch of originals, they are: Joe Tecson, Rene Canlas, George Paris, Ruel Cadano, Noor Casipe, Edong Lagman, Sonny Valencia, and Emy deGuzman's nephew. They are the regular Friday Morning session members with the able coaching of Serge.

The group became more grown-up when other personalities came in after ladies tournament in Tennis Planet. Ladies and couples alike. Then there was team tennis of AFTPA and two teams of category C players were formed. The first group reached the final losing to Saudia Team. It turns out to be more popular among other clubs and tennis players. Still the same, this bunch of personalities just play the game, eat outside have a sip of starbucks coffee and be happy. They don't even aware they are becoming more popular in the tennis community.

When Cyrille & Wally decided to go on exit visa only, we honored them by having our In-house Higa Cup Team Tennis Tournament in May, 2004. That was when we make a decision to formally launch our Tennis Club.  No proper election of Officers has been done.  All of them are handpicked in according to what qualifications the officers had.

The Club is thriving and attracting new members as well as catering for its existing membership.
